The past 12 months have seen some exciting developments in and around alto club in alvor, algarve, Portugal.

The new permanent circuit was built in Portugal in just seven months with a total investment of 120 million euros.The Algarve International Circuit has been named "Motorsport Facility of the Year" by the 'Professional Motorsport World Expo Awards 2009 "the ceremony annually rewards the best teams, personalities, technologies and infrastructure of the automotive world. Events such as World Championship Superbikes, A1GP, Le Mans Series, FIA GT or GP2 have been staged as well as on two occasions, receiving the Formula One testing. It was also praised by the world's top drivers such as Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Troy Bayliss, Ben Spies.
The circuit is only 10 minutes drive away from alto club which makes it a great base for anybody visiting an event at the circuit. The alto club apartments are available to rent and are close to the beach and alvor resteraunts.
Hilton Heads for Alvor
On June 2nd this year a deal was closed to bring a five-star luxury Hilton Hotel to the village of Alvor, in Portimão. The hotel will be inaugurated in 2012 and will take pride of place amidst an entire “lifestyle resort” spread over 22.5 hectares, on the beachfront. It will be accompanied by a residential area comprising 197 villas and townhouses. The investment will be of €150 million, €50 million alone allocated for the construction of the hotel. The hotel will have 175 bedrooms, an auditorium, conference rooms, a gymnasium, a Spa, a kid’s club, and a 2,000-square-metre events arena.
Footballers Linked to Alvor
Adjacent to the private hospital at the rear of alto club in Alvor work has commenced on the Hotel Alvor Baia and is expected to be completed in 2010. The Hotel will also have 400 apartments, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a health club, spa, congress centre and sports fields.
The Jorge Mendes-managed portuguese footballers Deco, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira are investing 50% into the project - The high profile involvement of the Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea stars is sure to ensure the spotting of many footballing stars during the coming summers in Alvor.
